Botanical garden plots large expansion: events center, ‘parking garden’ and new home for Boise Farmers market

Visitors will see big changes coming to the Idaho Botanical Gardens in years to come, and work is set to get underway next week.

The Idaho Botanical Garden and Arboretum is breaking ground on phase one of its newest expansion on Monday, September 8th. This 10-acre expansion is set to feature new education and gathering spaces, an accessible event lawn, an arboretum, new gardens, a new parking area, and added infrastructure to assist with future expansion milestones. ‘Large’ project

“This is the first time the Idaho Botanical Garden has even embarked on a project that is this large, and we couldn’t do it without the support of the community,” Idaho Botanical Garden Executive Director Erin Anderson said. “We feel like we are the Treasure Valley, and the Treasure Valley is us, and this expansion, I really feel like, is a living symbol of that.”

Anderson said this groundbreaking is an important step to begin the process of creating more space, greater accessibility, and new opportunities for the Treasure Valley community to connect with nature. She said that the expansion will begin when visitors first enter the garden…
