BOISE — Boise’s Office of Police Accountability has concluded an investigation into the September 2024 police shooting of 40-year-old Adam Lee Cook, who was shot as officers attempted to bring him into custody after an armed robbery and high-speed pursuit.
The findings in the Office of Police Accountability’s (OPA) report released Monday aligned with a Boise Police Department (BPD) review as well as a letter from Blaine County Prosecuting Matthew Fredback that reviewed an Ada County Critical Incident Task Force (CITF) investigation into the shooting that was led by the Meridian Police Department. In each case, the shooting was found to be both reasonable and necessary.
Prior to the Sept. 24 shooting, BPD was investigating two recent armed robberies of sandwich shops that were believed to be committed by the same person, while the Nampa Police Department was investigating a separate armed robbery of a convenience store. Surveillance video in the Nampa robbery captured a suspect fleeing in a Jeep Renegade with a license plate showing it was registered to Cook at a Boise address.
