First Alert Weather: Heavy rain early Friday could impact commutes and mountain travel

BOISE, Idaho — WHAT: A cold front will sweep in from the west late Thursday and will bring heavy rain to a narrow band of locales through early Friday morning.

The heaviest precipitation with this front will likely occur in a line from the Owyhee Mountains through the Boise metro/upper Treasure Valley into Idaho City/Boise Mountain and up into the West Central Mountains. Totals in areas within that band could be as high as 0.6 to 1.0 inches of rain by Friday morning, triggering flash flood concerns over area burn scars in the high terrain.

Thunderstorms are also possible as the front moves through, so lightning strikes, small hail, and occasional strong wind gusts are possible overnight as well…
