Idaho’s extended October 15 income tax filing deadline approaches

BOISE — The Idaho State Tax Commission says taxpayers who qualified for an automatic extension to file their taxes must send in their return and full payment by Oct. 15.

According to a Wednesday press release from the Tax Commission, Idaho law allows residents to late filing penalties if they have an extension: however, they’ll still owe 6 percent interest on any income tax due that was unpaid by the original due date of April 15 — tax payment is due when the return is filed, regardless of extensions.

Tax Commission Chairman Jeff McCray says the agency anticipates several thousand more individual tax returns during this extended period…
