Meridian man arrested on trafficking charges after fleeing from police

MERIDIAN, Idaho (CBS2) — A Meridian man was arrested Monday after he briefly managed to evade police in a high-speed chase.

Meridian Police report that officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a red 2020 Nissan Maxima driven by a man police identified as 29-year-old Simon Watters. Watters fled from police at “a high rate of speed.” Officers pursuing Watters eventually lost sight of his vehicle completely.

Meridian patrol officers located the red Maxima, unoccupied, a short while later near S. Locust Grove Rd. and E. Central Drive. Methamphetamine and fentanyl were discovered in the car…
