6 Local Ghostly Legends to Celebrate Halloween

It’s nearly Halloween, and there’s no better time for a good scary story. If you’re in the mood for some local lore featuring murder, ghost sightings and hauntings, read on.

The Ghost of the Boise State Communications Building

Back in the 1950s, a girl named Dinah was supposed to attend a dance with her boyfriend. After he cancelled, she went to the dance anyway and saw that he was there with another girl. Heartbroken, Dinah cried in the stairwell before she went into the bathroom and took her own life.

Since then, students and faculty have reported hearing crying in the stairwell of the Comm building. They also report feelings of being watched. One professor claimed to have seen writing appear on a chalkboard and a piano begin to play on its own. No one has been able to confirm whether Dinah really existed, but an unsettling presence continues to haunt the building…
