Boise reins in e-scooter and e-bike speeding

Electric bikes and scooters have become a common sight in Boise, rather than the rarity these devices were a decade ago. City of Boise staff say the growing use of the Lime rentals has led to a recent change of pace, announcing new speed limits last Thursday.

The city announced the speed changes in collaboration with Lime. In downtown, riders will be limited to 10 mph from 6 p.m.-3 a.m. On the greenbelt, devices will go up to 12 mph all day. Until now, a Lime device typically would go as fast as 15 mph.
