Come January, David Bills will once again be sworn in for the Nampa City Council’s third seat.
Bills, 66, said that when the third seat became available two years ago, Nampa Council Member Randy Haverfield encouraged him to apply for the appointment, and he was sworn in in early 2024. This year, he is the only person who filed to run for the seat.
As BoiseDev reported, part of a 2020 Idaho law made it so that those running unopposed for city races would be declared the winner following the write-in candidate period. But the law was amended in 2024 so that in cities with over 100,000 residents, even those running unopposed will still appear on the ballot…
