With Thanksgiving just around the corner, the Boise Farmers Market is stepping up to support our community, offering free groceries and continued assistance for those in need.
This Saturday, November 22 — just in time for Thanksgiving dinner shopping — the Boise Farmers Market will be distributing 50 pre-filled grocery bags packed with fresh, local ingredients. Each bag will come with a Thanksgiving recipe to help make meal prep easy and delicious! These bags are available to SNAP/EBT recipients and food-insecure shoppers while supplies last, starting at 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
But that’s not all
For those in need, the Market is continuing its important work with $40 vouchers for food purchases. These vouchers can be picked up and redeemed at the Market during the same hours on Saturday. Thanks to a tremendous show of community support, with over $75,000 raised through the Treasure Valley Food Coalition from donations and grants, the Boise Farmers Market has already distributed over $45,000 in vouchers to more than 1,000 local families in just three weeks. And all of that has gone directly toward buying fresh, local food from our region’s farmers, ranchers, and makers.
A quick change of location this week
The Boise Farmers Market will be moving outside this Saturday, November 22, to 300 W. Fort Street at the Lincoln Early Childhood Center. Don’t worry though, next week they’ll be back at the Senior Center through December 20.
In addition to this special distribution, the Market is always working to make fresh food more accessible by accepting SNAP/EBT and offering its “Double Up Food Bucks” program every Saturday from April through December…
