Family of seven rescued near Idaho City after being stranded on snowy road

BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Boise County Search and Rescue responded to a call from the Boise County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday, Nov. 23, to assist a family of seven whose vehicle battery died while they were searching for a Christmas tree near Pilot Peak, about 15 miles north of Idaho City. The family was stranded on a snow-covered road at the corner of Summit Flat Road and Forest Service Road 314.

Two members of the search and rescue team reached the family in their rescue jeep. The family, who were tired and cold, had managed to start a small fire while waiting for help. Upon arrival, the rescue team jump-started the vehicle, allowing the family to warm up and leave the freezing conditions. The team assisted the father and one of the teenagers in extinguishing the fire before escorting them back to Highway 21…
