Canyon County Jail staff stops inmates from smuggling meth into the center

CANYON COUNTY — Two Canyon County Detention Center inmates face $2 million bonds after a combination of the center’s staff diligence and teamwork stopped them from smuggling methamphetamine into the jail in late November.

Maria Isabel Calderon, 38, of Caldwell, and Alexandra Lynnae Crawford, 27, of Nampa, are facing felony charges of conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, introduction of major contraband into a correctional facility, and possession of a counterfeit substance with intent to deliver, according to a Canyon County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) news release.

Joshua Paul Taylor, 41, of Caldwell, an “outside accomplice,” according to the release, is being held on a $250,000 bond. Taylor faces felony charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, and destruction of evidence, the release states…
