New educational video revealing the harsh reality of impaired driving

NAMPA, Idaho (CBS2) — The Nampa Police Department is taking a proactive approach to road safety by sharing real-life crash videos across Idaho. The initiative aims to highlight the devastating impact of impaired driving and encourage safer driving choices. The idea came after Chris Krajsa, the department’s integrated command supervisor, shared clips of local crashes at a Chamber of Commerce luncheon. “We just showed some crashes that we’ve got on video from our real-time crime center,” Krajsa said. “When I was done, people had approached me saying, you know, you should show this to kids.”

Krajsa had done similar videos during her time as a state trooper in Minnesota. She said she immediately reached out to Mothers Against Drunk Driving, and it snowballed from there.

The video offers a stark reminder of the consequences of reckless driving. “I don’t think people realize, you know, when you see a crash actually happen, it puts a different perspective on it,” Krajsa said. The educational piece showcases crashes from here in the state and gives families and victims the chance to tell their stories…
