Meridian’s Idaho POST Academy Earns National Re-Accreditation for Excellence in Law Enforcement Training

On December 4, 2025, the Idaho Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Academy in Meridian, Idaho, received re-accreditation from the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST). IADLEST Executive Director Mike Becar presented the award during the Idaho POST Council’s quarterly meeting.

In June 2025, an IADLEST assessment team visited the POST Academy for a two-day onsite evaluation. The team reviewed compliance with national standards, inspected facilities, interviewed staff and students, and observed training in areas such as firearms, emergency vehicle operation, and defensive tactics. The team found that Idaho POST met all required standards, resulting in successful re-accreditation for the second time.

This year, the Idaho POST Academy received a higher accreditation score than in 2022, when it had previously achieved IADLEST’s highest score. The academy again received the Award of Excellence designation.
