CANYON COUNTY — A trio’s attempt to smuggle methamphetamine into the Canyon County Detention Center (CCDC) in late November highlights underlying problems facing the jail, according to local authorities.
Attempts to smuggle drugs are not rare at county jails and state prisons, according to Joe Decker, public information officer for the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office.
“Unfortunately, it is more common than many people realize, and that goes for all county jails and state prisons,” Decker said. “It is even more common in older/aging facilities like ours, where the building presents security challenges.”…
