BOISE, Idaho — The Dennis Technical Education Center (DTEC) has discontinued its mechatronics program due to low student enrollment. Principal Jeffrey Roberts said the curriculum still is a part of other programs at DTEC.
The program, which was developed in partnership with Micron Technology, is the only one cut this year at the Boise School District’s second-largest high school. DTEC continues to operate 21 other career and technical education programs.
“Unfortunately, with mechatronics, we just didn’t have the student interest part,” Roberts said. “It always comes down to that balance of industry need and student interest.”…
