CALDWELL — What has been considered a forgotten part of the city has now found its way as part of a new urban renewal district at the final Caldwell City Council meeting of the year.
The room at city hall had over 60 people in attendance on Monday night, with nearly 40 who signed in favor of the new urban renewal district. The Caldwell Central Urban Renewal Area is approximately 639 acres and covers part of the north end of town, according to agenda packet documents.
According to the city’s website, the urban renewal agency was established by the Caldwell City Council in 1998 to promote development in undervalued portions of the city with goals to stimulate economic growth, improve infrastructure, and enhance quality of life for residents.
