Caldwell fire crews contain trash truck fire

CALDWELL, Idaho (CBS2) — Caldwell Fire Department crews responded to a commercial vehicle fire involving a trash truck equipped with Liquid Propane Gas tanks on Thursday.

Engine 12 was the first to arrive on the scene. Due to the tanks’ venting and the high risk of explosion, firefighters temporarily withdrew from close operations, protected exposures, and kept the fire from spreading.

Crews used an aerial ladder truck to apply water from a safe distance, allowing the propane to burn off while ensuring personnel safety. Once conditions improved, Engine 12 supplied Truck 11 for extinguishment, with assistance from Wilder Truck 81 and Caldwell Water Tender 18…
