The Treasure Valley might not rate when it comes to notorious traffic snarls, but the amount of time we’re spending in the car is on the rise.
A 2024 report from transportation data company StreetLight Data analyzing 100 metro areas nationwide found a 26% jump in vehicle miles traveled in the Boise metro area between the spring of 2019 and the spring of 2023. This puts Boise among one of the country’s smaller 50 metro areas with some of the highest growth rates for miles traveled in cars, with increases similar to the Research Triangle in North Carolina and San Antonio, Texas…
