Health insurance company eyes possible move after decades in Meridian

The state’s oldest and largest health insurer, Blue Cross of Idaho, is now actively looking for a new home. But any future move to a new location will still be in the Treasure Valley.

For nearly three decades, Blue Cross has maintained its main campus, situated on the corner of Eagle Road and Pine Avenue in Meridian. The 34-acre site includes a 250,000 square-foot facility highlighted by its distinct blue rooftops. Plans for the company to explore options for a new site to house its 800 employees were shared in a recent press release.

Though the intersection is recognized as one of the area’s busiest, the amount of traffic flowing through the corridor daily is “not considered a factor” for the proposed future move, said Bret Rumbeck, public affairs manager for Blue Cross…
