CALDWELL, Idaho (CBS2) — The Caldwell Police Department is the first police department in the area to utilize a Drones as First Responders, or DFR, program. They say this allows them to assess an incident before officers even arrive.
“It launches from the dock, and goes to a call and it can provide real time, live downlink to our officers,” said Caldwell Police Chief Rex Ingram.
Ingram says not only do the drones allow for them to see what is going on to be better prepared, but it could help determine if an officer presence is even needed. Which he says saves department resources and tax payer funds…
