Boise Foothills trails likely muddy; caution urged for hikers and cyclists

BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Ridge to Rivers is reminding those who utilize the foothills trails to stay off muddy trails to avoid unnecessary damage to the landscape. The Boise Foothills are facing challenging trail conditions due to the current weather forecast. With temperatures ranging from an overnight low of 37F to a high of 48F, the absence of a hard overnight freeze has left the trails vulnerable. A 65% chance of light rain throughout the day further complicates the situation, leaving the clay-heavy soils in a sensitive state.

Popular lower-elevation routes, such as Table Rock and those in Hulls Gulch, are likely saturated and prone to rutting. Trail users are advised to exercise caution. “If mud is sticking to your shoes or tires, the trail is too soft to be used,” officials warned.
