‘A safer city for everyone’: Grant will provide funds to study high crash corridor in Boise

A $1 million grant will soon enable Boise to take action on a one-mile stretch of road that has been identified as the highest injury corridor in the city.

The grant, awarded by the U.S. Department of Transportation, will be utilized for a traffic study on Fairview Avenue between Cole and Curtis roads. This section of road has had 350 crashes in the past five years, according to a Wednesday press release.

“I am committed to creating a city that every resident can move safely — to visit neighbors and friends, run errands and get to work and school. At the city, we are pursuing every avenue possible to ensure that all residents can do just that, whether they choose to bus, bike, walk or drive,” Boise Mayor Lauren McLean said in the release. “Securing this grant furthers our work to create a safer city for everyone.”…
