BOISE, Idaho — A Treasure Valley man is helping bring hope and opportunities to people who are coming out of incarceration, homelessness or crisis.
Mario Hernandez says he knows what it’s like to walk in their shoes, because he’s been there himself. Hernandez went to prison on drug, forgery and weapons charges for several years.
“My life has been addiction and recovery, honestly, my whole life,” said Hernandez. “It was a cycle, I would get back in my active addiction, and then I’d go to jail, and I thought to myself, this just can’t be it, this can’t be what my life is going to be.”…
