BOISE, Idaho — An angler ice fishing for trout at Island Park Reservoir caught something that shouldn’t be there: a 5-inch yellow perch.
Following the catch, the Idaho Department of Fish and Game said the angler immediately reported the yellow perch to its Citizens Against Poaching hotline. Conservation officers confirmed it was the first-ever yellow perch found in the reservoir and believe the species was illegally stocked.
Idaho Fish and Game said that introducing a fish into an environment is illegal and “can cause serious ecological consequences to Idaho’s fishery resources.”…
