Inmate ‘brutally assaulted’ corporal at maximum-security prison, correctional officers say

KUNA, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — A corporal at a maximum-security prison was left injured after an inmate serving a murder sentence attacked him.

Robert David Pompa “brutally assaulted” a 56-year-old corporal on Saturday, according to the Idaho Department of Corrections. Paramedics transported the corporal to Saint Alphonsus Medical Center in Boise, where the corporal remains in stable condition.

The department said Pompa is serving prison time for charges in two counties: murder and battery on a correctional officer or jailer in Madison County and burglary, aggravated battery and unlawful discharge of a weapon in Bannock County…
