Pilot who crashed into Idaho street charged for flying under the influence

A pilot from Twin Falls who crashed on Orchard St. in Boise, Idaho has been arrested for operating his aircraft while under the influence.

Michael Verzwyvelt, 61 years old, struck a vehicle with his experimental Kitfox Series 7 Super Sport (N14PM) before crashing into a roadway near the Boise Airport (BOI) on Nov. 8, 2025, according to ASN. IdahoNews also reported the aircraft struck a traffic signal during the crash. Both Verzwyvelt and his passenger where taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

Responders reported that Verzwyvelt showed signs of impairment and later testing showed he was under the influence of alcohol while he was flying. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and he was taken into custody on Jan. 14. He pleaded not guilty to the charge and Judge Susan Clark set bond at $2,000 in December, according to AOPA.
