Melinda O’Malley Keckler, who shaped news coverage as an anchor at KIVI-TV and KBCI-TV, and later led marketing for Boise State University, died earlier this month. She was 61.
Keckler, who was known to TV audiences as Melinda O’Malley, started her career at KIVI Channel 6 in the early 1990s, launching the station’s first morning show, Good Morning Treasure Valley. She met her future husband, Mike Keckler, who was a reporter at KBCI Channel 2 (now KBOI-TV). After working for a time in Spokane, she later joined Mike at channel 2, where she worked as an evening anchor.
