Demolition could be in the new future for a former motel that the City of Boise shut down three years ago.
In 2023, the City of Boise shut down the Travelers Motel on Fairview Ave., citing “deplorable” and “unsafe” living conditions. As BoiseDev reported at the time, fire inspectors found black mold, rotting floors, electrical issues, insect infestations, no running water, feces, vomit, and a myriad of other conditions, leading them to classify the motel as “unfit for habitation.”
The motel, as BoiseDev reported, was later put up for sale in 2024. Now, it appears the new owners are looking to redevelop the property entirely. Permits filed with the city show a demolition request for the buildings, which sit on .71 acres of land off Fairview Ave. and Curtis Rd.
The application said the demolition would make way for an “eventual project to construct a multi-family building on the site.” It also said the demolition is necessary because the vacant buildings have begun to experience multiple and frequent break-ins, which the application calls a “liability” and a “hazard.”…
