Meridian mayor Simison re-appointed to federal historic preservation council

Mayor Robert Simison of Meridian has received a presidential appointment to the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP), a federal agency which advocates for and advises the executive and legislative branch on the preservation of national historic resources.

The appointment, which lasts through 2029, will be Simison’s second stint as the council’s Mayor Member, having previously held the position from 2020 to 2023. In addition to preservation experts, the council requires appointments for a governor and a member of a tribe or Native Hawaiian organization.
