‘HB 547 is dead’: Cosmetology bill to be rewritten after closed doors talks between lawmakers and industry leaders

BOISE, Idaho — A controversial bill to reduce the hours required for an Idaho cosmetology license is effectively dead in its current form.

But the collaboration that followed its contentious committee hearing could produce new legislation that both lawmakers and industry professionals can support.

“547 is dead,” Rep. Brent Crane, R-Nampa, told KTVB Wednesday. “That bill is not going to move unless there’s significant changes to that bill.”…
