Police drone helps Caldwell firefighters size up structure fire

CALDWELL, Idaho (CBS2) — A late-night fire tore through a home on E. Kearney Street in Caldwell, spreading into the attic and causing extensive damage to the second floor, but everyone inside made it out safely.

Caldwell Fire Department crews responded to the structure fire just before 9 p.m. on Tuesday. A Caldwell Police Department drone arrived on scene ahead of fire crews and provided real-time information about the size and scope of the fire. Based on that information, additional fire apparatus were requested before the first fire unit arrived.

When firefighters got to the home, crews saw active flames coming through the roof near the RV section of the garage. All residents and pets were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported…
