CANYON COUNTY, Idaho — Canyon County and its municipal partners struck a deal to keep West Valley Humane Society operating the county’s animal shelter through the end of the fiscal year, resolving at least temporarily, a crisis that left the facility’s future in doubt.
The agreement, announced Thursday by Canyon County and the cities of Caldwell and Nampa, comes three days after Copper Quill Haven abruptly withdrew from contract negotiations to take over the shelter. West Valley had been scheduled to vacate the building Friday but instead entered a new contract with the entities to stay in the building.
