69-year-old Boise man sentenced to federal prison for possessing 7 IEDs in his home

BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — A 69-year-old Boise man has been sentenced to two years in federal prison after he pleaded guilty to building multiple IEDs.

Jonathan W. VanCuren, 69, of Boise, was arrested after officers served multiple search warrants on his residence in Boise. Officers found a total of seven IEDs, or Improvised Explosive Devices, that VanCuren had built. All of the explosives were assembled and in operating condition, according to court records.

After pleading guilty to possession of an unregistered firearm, the IEDs, the Judge sentenced VanCuren to 24 months in federal prison, followed by two years of supervised probation…
