Boise police increase traffic stops in North End after pilot slow zone launch

BOISE, Idaho — The Boise Police Department (BPD) has stepped up traffic enforcement in Boise’s North End. Ada County Highway District (ACHD) crews already lowered speed limits to 20 mph on several neighborhood streets, part of The North End Neighborhood Slow Zone Pilot, launched after the death of 8‑year‑old Mora Gerety, who was hit by a vehicle in December at the intersection of Ada Street and Harrison Boulevard.

The pilot reduces posted limits to 20 mph on select streets, with ACHD updating speed limit signs.

Since the start of the pilot, Boise Police officers have focused on traffic safety throughout the neighborhood, with emphasis on enforcing parking rules near intersections, stop signs, crosswalks, and speed limits.
