Three Garden City officers injured by IDOC inmate during work-release program altercation

GARDEN CITY, Idaho — Garden City Police said a work‑release inmate with the Idaho Department of Correction was taken back into custody Monday after allegedly fighting with and injuring three officers.

According to police, the incident began around 1:30 p.m. on February 23 on E. 45th Street, where officers were assisting Probation and Parole in locating a separate felony probationer. During the search, officers contacted 32‑year‑old Jordan Pickett, who was sitting in a nearby vehicle and was not connected to the original investigation.

Probation and Parole officers recognized Pickett as an active IDOC inmate participating in a work‑release program, according to Garden City police. Pickett is serving a sentence until 2030 for drug trafficking out of Ada County and is eligible for parole in July 2026, according to IDOC’s website…
