Timberline High School, “Wolf Connections” hosts prom to bridge generational gaps

Prom night usually brings to mind a high school gym packed with loud music and nonstop dancing. But at the Dick Eardley Senior Center, the dance floor belonged to two generations of seniors — high school students and older adults — all celebrating together at Timberline High School’s 18th annual Senior Prom.

The event was put on by Timberline High School’s Wolf Connection Leadership Group, a student leadership program focused on community service and building real-world relationships. Students had been visiting with seniors at the center for months and organized the prom as a celebration that connects youth and seniors in Boise.

Timberline teacher, Kelly Gonser said the night was driven entirely by students, from the theme to the details. “This is all student led, they pick the theme of Old Hollywood, 1950’s all the way to all the awards we are giving away tonight. They chose all of those things.”…
