Boise shelter transition reshapes emergency bed access as Interfaith moves to new facility

BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Boise’s network of homeless shelters is entering a new phase as Interfaith Sanctuary completes its long-planned move out of downtown and into a larger facility on State Street. The transition expands services but changes how people access shelter.

Interfaith Sanctuary closed its longtime location on River Street and fully relocated to a 42,500-square-foot Shelter Home at 4306 W. State St. The new building has 205 beds and is designed to provide more comprehensive support for people experiencing homelessness.

Unlike the former River Street shelter, where people could line up in the evening for a first-come, first-served overnight bed, the new facility no longer accepts walk-in guests during a crisis…
