BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Dogs and their handlers took to the ring March 6, 7, and 8 for a series of American Kennel Club rally and obedience competitions at Expo Idaho, part of a pair of standalone trial weekends held each year by the Idaho Capital City Kennel Club.
The obedience trials are designed to show “the usefulness of the dog as a companion of man,” to produce dogs trained to behave at home, in public places, and around other dogs. The events also emphasize that dogs should demonstrate “a willingness and an enjoyment of their work.”
