Canyon County seeking potential location in Caldwell for second waste transfer station

A green light by Canyon County commissioners made way for next steps to be taken for a potential solid waste transfer station in Caldwell.

A vacant property located on State Highway 44, just off Exit 25 going westbound from Interstate 84, is entering the first phases of possibly being purchased for nearly $8.4 million to be used as a transfer station for solid waste in efforts to make dumping garbage more accessible for locals who live on the west side of the county and help slow down garbage truck traffic at the landfill.

A transfer station serves as an alternative location where residents and garbage truck drivers can take approved waste materials. The waste is later transferred to the primary landfill station.
