Stories on wheels: The trolley bookstore rolling through Boise

BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Boise native Dani Scovel created ‘Curbside Books,’ a mobile bookstore built inside a vintage trolley, to make reading accessible to everyone. Her main inspiration was her grandmother.

“She’s my best friend, and we always loved books and sharing books. And she got to the point where she just wasn’t able to get out as much.” Dani said. “At that time, I was actually reading ‘The Bookshop Around the Corner.’ That was the first time I really heard about the idea of a mobile bookstore. And that just made it really click. Like maybe this could be how I could bring books to her and community to her.”

Dani found the vintage trolley from a trolley broker in Kansas and had it shipped to Idaho. With the help of friends and family, she was able to renovate it into a mobile bookshop known as ‘Trolley Parton.’…
