CANYON COUNTY, Idaho — More than 1,200 inmates sentenced to state custody are currently being held in county jails across Idaho while they wait for space in state prison facilities, Canyon County Sheriff Kieran Donahue said.
Donahue said counties are helping manage the overflow but are not being fully compensated for the cost.
