Wind to blame for Saturday power outages in southern Idaho

MERIDIAN, Idaho — Idaho Power is currently responding to outages across the state on Saturday, March 14, as windy conditions howl through the valleys.

Saturday evening began with two large-scale outages reported in the Treasure Valley area, affecting nearly 5,000 customers in the west Boise, Eagle, and Meridian areas, including Chinden Boulevard. As of 5:45 p.m., those were mostly resolved, with small pockets of additional issues arising.

Around 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aberdeen had the largest outage, with 704 people without power in the zip codes of 83210 and 83211…
