Caldwell City Council approves new time-limited parking zones downtown

CALDWELL, Idaho — Caldwell leaders are taking a new approach to managing downtown parking after a failed attempt at paid meters.

On Monday, the Caldwell City Council approved Bill 13, a resolution allowing the city to create time-limited and restricted parking zones in the downtown area. They say that the change gives the city flexibility to assign different time limits to different blocks and areas, with the goal of increasing turnover and making it easier for customers to find a spot.

The move comes after the city’s short-lived experiment with paid parking meters in 2024. Those meters were removed after about 100 days, following complaints from business owners who said the pay stations hurt sales and confused visitors…
