There Were Two Separate Police Pursuits Near Boise On Wednesday

Some Idaho residents are confused about recent police activity near Boise, and rightly so. The confusion is due to the fact that two separate incidents were happening around the same time, and both required a significant police and first responder presence.

Both events included a police pursuit and the arrest of a male driver, and both ended in parking lots, though one impacted a much larger number of drivers. The differences between the two incidents are clarified below.

Idaho Residents Are Confusing Two Recent Police Pursuits and Arrests Near Boise

The quick explanation is that police responded to an incident at a known drug house at 2:39 PM that led to a short police pursuit and another call shortly after 4:30 PM to a report of shots fired that also led to a short police pursuit.

The first incident ended with a PIT maneuver in the parking lot (on the sidewalk) of an Albertson’s store in Nampa. The second incident ended in a dirt parking lot near Interstate 84 in Meridian with an hour-long standoff that disrupted traffic on the highway for an extended period of time. Meridian Man Arrested on Multiple Charges Following Police Pursuit

The Nampa Police Department shared a report on Facebook regarding an incident on April 1st that began with a traffic stop on a vehicle at a known drug house near 1st Street N and 2nd Street N. A police K-9 indicated drugs in the vehicle, and the driver, 55-year-old Shane Matthew Aman, was asked to get out of the vehicle. He instead drove off at a high speed. Police used a PIT maneuver to stop the vehicle near 11th Ave S and 7th Street S, ending near the sidewalk of the Albertson’s parking lot.

Aman was arrested and charged with felony eluding, DUI, providing false ID, and resisting/obstructing an officer.

Kuna Man Arrested Following Police Pursuit and Standoff Near Interstate 84

The second incident on April 1st was the one that impacted highway travel during rush hour on Interstate 84 around the 10 Mile Road exit. Around 4:37 PM, the Meridian Police Department responded to a shots-fired call in the 700 block of West Overland.
