Caldwell mayor statement on railroad quiet zone project

CALDWELL, Idaho (CBS2) β€” Caldwell Mayor Eric Phillips released a statement regarding the railroad quiet zone project.

According to Phillips, he removed the railroad quiet zone project from the consent agenda to review its costs, scope and safety measures, citing concerns about the lack of pedestrian protections. The City Council voted 5-1 to advance the project.

Mayor Phillips issued a veto based on his concerns, but the City Attorney determined the veto is not legally binding. As a result, the related agenda items were removed from the April 6 meeting and will not be considered further…
