Micron’s two new fabs will soon light up with thousands of new workers to produce crucial semiconductors for the modern economy. But, where will the workers live?
As Boise examines its long-term growth, areas in the far reaches of southeast Boise have been on the city’s radar, dating back to Mayor Dave Bieter’s time in office. One of these areas is the Columbia Bench east of Micron’s growing campus. The area currently has a few hundred homes in subdivisions, but for the most part remains wide-open rangeland, while the city eyes it for growth to house future workers rather than forcing them to seek homes further and further west into Canyon County.
However, this area hasn’t seen limited development in Boise’s growth boom for no reason…
