KUNA, Idaho — The Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) reported that one of its facilities experienced water access disruptions on Monday.
A spokesperson for the corrections department told KTVB that the Idaho State Correctional Center (ISCC) experienced intermittent water disruptions on May 18 due to routine fire hydrant maintenance. The IDOC spokesperson said an outside contractor was working on the hydrant when nearby sediment was drawn into the well system, which clogged filters to the facility’s main water line.
IDOC provided timeframes as to when the disruptions occurred:
- 1:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.: No water access throughout the entire facility while maintenance staff and contractors assessed the issue and conducted repairs.
- 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.: Limited water access throughout the facility as water flow resumed, though PSI pressure remained low and unstable.
According to IDOC, the A-block of the facility maintained water access after 5:13 p.m. on Monday. However, other facilities experienced disruptions too, which were as follows:
- D-Block: 8:30 p.m. – 8:45 p.m.
- E-Block: 8:30 p.m. – 9:11 p.m.
- F-Block: 8:30 p.m. – 10:13 p.m.
- G-Block: 8:30 p.m. – 12:42 a.m.
- H-Block: 8:30 p.m. – 12:57 a.m.
- C-Block: 8:30 p.m. – 1:19 a.m.
- B-Block: 8:30 p.m. – 1:55 a.m.
The facility had water fully restored around 2 a.m. on Tuesday, with staff continuing to make minor repairs…
