Two Massachusetts colleges seek approval for 3-year, reduced-credit bachelor’s degrees

Suffolk University and Merrimack College have proposed reduced-credit bachelor’s degrees, according to public filings.

Suffolk in Boston is proposing a 94-credit pilot bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration and Innovation. Meanwhile, Merrimack in North Andover is proposing 96-credit bachelor’s degrees in psychology, communication, criminal justice and business administration.

The proposals come after the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education approved new regulations on Feb. 10, allowing colleges to propose 3-year, 90-credit bachelor’s degree programs. Students would not need to take summer classes to complete the condensed program…
