Boston was about to cut its teen jobs program. Instead, it’s getting bigger

A popular teen jobs program in Boston will welcome more students than ever this year despite the city’s plan to eliminate it from the budget.

The SuccessLink program, which provides opportunities for paid jobs and internships for Boston Public Schools students during the school year at private employers around the city, was slated to be eliminated in the proposed budget for 2027. But Mayor Michelle Wu announced Monday that through partnerships with outside organizations, the program would continue.

SuccessLink is expected accommodate at least 2,000 students this year, or about 10% of BPS high schoolers — up from about 1,722 this year…
