Former Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office employee pleads guilty to coercing staff, witness tampering

BOSTON (WWLP) – A former Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office official pleaded guilty to using his position to force employees to perform work at his private residence and to tampering with a witness during a subsequent investigation.

The U.S. District Attorney’s Office stated that 54-year-old Thomas Brady of Norwood pleaded guilty on June 5 to one count of witness tampering and one count of using interstate facilities to commit bribery and extortion.

Brady served as Assistant Deputy Superintendent for Jail Operations at the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office from 2021 through May 2023 before being promoted to Assistant Superintendent.

Charging documents stated that in October and November 2022, Brady reportedly used his authority to direct a subordinate maintenance officer to perform repairs at his home during and after work hours. The employee complied out of fear that refusing Brady could negatively affect his job, including his shift assignment or employment status…
